Description
1998 HONDA CR-500R MOTOR / ENGINE was a known "Trail ridden" only bike and was to be put into a factory YAMAHA TZ-250 ROADRACING chassis to compete in the "Championship Cup Series" roadracing events, but due to unforseen rules changes, the class that it was going to dominate was altered to make this combination Illegal..!? So this is the story why I'm selling this motor..
here is what has been massaged into this awesome "AS NEW" powerplant:
when disassembled it had the original piston in it from the factory, so it was bored & honed 1st size over to assure a perfect round bore.., then the crankcases were stuffed to increase throttle response, and the ports were CNC'ed and hand blended to exact tolerances for top end performance without killing the low end torque.., all parts were inspected and replaced "if needed" in the transmission etc., the reed cage was built to accept a LECTRON 44mm FLATSLIDE racing carburator (it is in another auction), and the head was milled enough to benifit this combination with out hurting it !
I have $1450. invested in the work done on this motor by Gregg Newfeld / Fuel Technologies, one of the best 2-stroke builders in the nation (does alot of the AMA PRO supercross & motocross privateers).. this motor is expected to put out between 75 & 80 horsepower, and would make a wicked race kart implant...! but check your rulebook first for legality... this thing would be an unfair advantage...! ;-)
